An Amiga game. I think it was called Magic Spot.

The game is for 2-4 players.
It\'s played on a normal checkers/chess type board.

If you start with two players (for example), you start with a piece in the top left and bottom right corner.
The computer starts with two pieces in the other two corners.

It featured the 7up Cool Spot in probably his first game (this of course can be left out of the Palm version for obvious copyright reasons).

If you placed a piece NEXT TO one of your current pieces, it would add another piece. If you added a piece one space away, you could jump one of your current pieces there.

I think you first click on a current piece then next to it and it would add another piece.
If you click on a current piece and click one space away, that current piece would JUMP to the new space (not add another piece).

Any enemy pieces surrounding your piece would flip to become the same as your colour. (ie. the 8 squares surrounding yours).

The player with the most pieces at the end wins.

Very simple but addictive and fun. Appeals to many types of players :)

The extra fun bits were that the piece you move would do fun animations on the way.
eg. if you move one piece to a space away, it would grow hands and feet and animate such as doing an egyptian walk to the new place or backflip his way to the new position. It had many different animations and would play relevant music (eg a couple of bars of an egyptian type tune).

This is the only site I can find a reference to it:

I\'ve a couple of these types of games designed and planned - lots came out in the 80s+90s with a similar style.

There\'s only so many puzzle games I can justify ;-)

er you mean BOARD games. This is a BOARD game like checkers not a PUZZLE game like Bejeweled! :P

You don\'t match tiles or something like that. This is a game where you place pieces and the enemy pieces change to your colours if your piece lands next to one of theirs :)

More like a Reversi type game, which I would class as a board game.
