Palm m515, but access to everything.

Hey Howard, does your sig mean that you prefer the m515 to all the other Palm-OS handhelds out there, including the sexy, sleek Sony\'s I\'ve been lusting after?

I know this is way off topic, but I didn\'t see where else it would belong.

Yup - despite having access to pretty much any handheld, the one that I carry is a Palm M515.
For me its the right balance - in order of relative importance of
(*) Colour
(*) Small Size
Then,
(*) Bright Screen
(*) Good Memory
(*) Expandable and Backup-able
(*) Processing Power

Now, if I didn\'t basically spend almost all of every day (and night) by a PC, I\'d probably go for one of the Sony machines, with MP3 capability. Maybe the NR70V which is a cool model. (Kirk loves that model, so I\'m tempted to buy her one...)

Also, I\'ve got an ultra-small Sony Vaio laptop which I tend to take with me almost everywhere too.

Maybe when the next generation of machines comes out, there\'ll be a PDA which is small enough to not be annoying in my trouser pocket, while having better features than the m515. But, till then, the m515 is just fine for me. (As was the m505, to be honest!)

Howard.

Yep, I too had an m505 previous to my current m515, which I was very happy with also. The only reason I replaced it was I left the old one in a taxi a few months ago (doh!).

I\'m equally happy with the m515, but it could be better. Although I don\'t really need mp3 support, I would use it if I had it. And I want a high-res screen and I want the processor to be faster. Another shortcoming (with the OS, I suppose) is the limited utility of SD cards--what I\'d really like to do is dump massive data files (vindigo & avantgo in particular) on there, while leaving the app in RAM, but you can\'t do that. Maybe when the OS-5 machines come out my dream of the perfect handheld will come true :)
