Hello I not only have a game suggestion but I also have screenshots of how I think the game show look.

Hello my name is Rob Gentile an I am a pretty good graphic artist. I was wondering if there was a Palm OS Programmer that wants to make this kick butt looking game. I have made a bunch of screenshots for you to look at.

Looks cool to me, Rob :)

(In case anyone who is a beta tester doesn\'t remember, Rob did the graphics for Bang!Bang! and Jam!)

Looks kind of like the view would be like a \'Wipeout\' in space.

What does everyone else think ?

that game looks pretty cool, almost like a 3d version of zap!2000, i really think that you should take up the challenge and help him had, i think it would be an awsome game.

Looks good and the game concept could be fun, but I\'m not shure if it is makable on OS 4 devices. But ardiri.com made a 3D demo (deity3D, only greyscale) that looks good, so the chances for a fast/playable version of this game is not to bad :D

Sorry in another thread I read that you plan to use sprites ;), then the speed should be no problem.

We\'ll be making this - probably starting over the next couple of weeks.
I\'ve been discussing with Rob some of the elements of how we expect it to work, but because this is a \'design ourselves\' game, I expect to be opening up a forum shortly to have our beta testers give input at an earlier stage than for our licensed games.
We\'ll be aiming it for standard res, hi res, and pocket pc. (All colour, I think).

Howard.

Wow! It\'s a great news. Dream comes true! I can\'t wait that.:) BTW, I feel the graphics of some Ludigames\'s products also great. (personally)

I\'ll be looking forward to the forum, i have lots of ideas for this game... It should be great if you had it in hi-res+ (Sony NR Screan!) Then it would be better then the Pocket PC Game.

(In case anyone who is a beta tester doesn\'t remember, Rob did the graphics for Bang!Bang! and Jam!)While just looking through all the old games links, I found a version of Jam!...yes the graphics are quite nice, but it also shows how much the programing has moved on, even in the last 15 months since I got this game - SOO much more polished :) ;)

Still Waiting for the board for ideas, but i didn\'t think it would be up this fast anyway!

OK - this is a hint of what\'s to come.

I\'ve been discussing with Rob and we now have source graphics for the game pretty much done. Now all we need is programmer time :)

We\'ve got a new guy starting in about 2 weeks time, name of Dan. He\'ll be taking on this project, which is currently titled \'Star Racer\', which seems to be a little more descriptive. Dan has worked on 3d games for PCs in the past, and so this is an ideal game for him to write, while also getting used to using our existing libraries.

As soon as he starts (August 12th) I\'ll be opening up a new forum for the discussion about it. The basic aims for this game are for it to look gorgeous, run very fast, and have good controls. It\'ll be designed for standard and hi-res Palm OS, as well as Pocket PC. This will be one for the \'Twitch gamers\' who like fast reaction games - shall we say, its not going to be too deep ;)

Looking forward to it yet ?

Howard.

Very much so, i\'m really looking forward to it now! Any more screen shots? What about hi-res+ will you make it for that? I\'m gonna wait for the ARM processor Palms to be a little less expensive, but for now i\'ll have to play it on my grayscale. :(

Howard,

I just had my Platinum for about 4 months and will not be getting a new one that soon. Will this game really be in color only? I\'d really love to see this one in grayscale.

Best regards.

how long does it usually take to program a palm game, like the kind of games that you make. i was also wondering hopw long you think it will take to finish this new awsome game \'star racer.\' anyeays, thx for your toime and i cant wait for this game to come out.

Howard

Games vary much in their complexity! I imagine this particular game will require around 1 month of programming time on new systems, a further 1-2 months of time programming the game engine, logic, etc. There will be additional time in from Rob throughout the game creating new and extra bits of graphics.
Its not a particularly deep game, but it is going to be a bit trickier than some of the puzzle games were to program.

how long does it usually take you to make your puzzle games, on average? and, im guessing that this gmae will not be released for at least another 3-4 months, right?

You didn\'t answer if this will be available in Hi-Res+ yet, or will that not be possible? Maybe you could put a stats screen at the bottom. You can tell I\'m excited. :)

does it really matter if it is high res or not, i mean, it will be cool to have it in high res, buht the game will still be fun, and if it is, just wait to see. anyways, dont be so worried because i bet this game probably will be, one reason is becasue i heard that palm os 5 is coming out wiht in the nexyt 6 months.

Massman82

the OS is already out, the first device should be out within the next 2 months

Most say the first Palm will be out in September, no1 knows when a Sony or handspring will be out though...

As it says on the website, that the game will use the vibrator that is in the Sony\'s, will you guys actually be able to do this?? Also, i think you should say that the game is already taken on the site!

oh, and as to POS5 - it should be on sony and handspring at about the same time, since palmsource is now an independent company...

Had, are you thinking about doing the motor bike game, after the star racer game?

Howard
Aug 5, 2002, 06:17 PM
I hope to talk with Rob about it.

I showed the pics to another developer here, and I\'m sure we can put a good game around it!

Howard.

Massman82
Aug 5, 2002, 06:20 PM
By another developer though, do you mean another one in Astraware, one in another company, or one that wants to work for Astraware? Are you guys taking another great developer?

Howard
Aug 5, 2002, 06:27 PM
We\'ve got another developer starting next week - he\'s already having a look at Star Racer, and he\'s shown interest in the bike game too.
I\'ll make full introductions next week, but for now suffice it to say that the new developer comes to us with some good 3D experience!

those screen shots look pretty cool, i think this game will be another cool game made by astraware. but, on one of the pictures, the moreufos one, is it more ufo\'s? and do you fight them all at once like on that screen? oh, and i also looked at you rmotor cycle game, it looks all right but the way tou did the terrain, it looks kind of cheesy, it my just be me but thats what i think about that.

Tomorrow the board appears, and the new programmer comes :) I have a bunch of ideas for this game!

Howard
Aug 11, 2002, 02:48 PM
Well, the board, anyway :)

Dan has done a bit of prototype work, and we\'ve already got a fairly hefty game design done. I\'ll try to get a decent description of the game up and in place during tomorrow!

Excuse me if I'm being really dense, but did anything ever come of this game? (I only found the thread while trying to find something else in this forum - which I've not found yet...)

Mark, easily confused
