View Full Version : Weird Problem: Low Quality Graphics

This problem has been there for a long long time.

First, I installed Chuzzle v1.00 to my Palm T|E2. I launched it to find that the overall game graphics are very low in quality (it's like 160x160 stretched to fit 320x320) -- way lower in quality than what the screenshots show.

UPDATE (here's a screenshot. This is exactly what it looked like on my Palm. Image quality is reserved.)

I tried to re-install it several times, even after a hard-reset. I had over 15MB of free memory in my handheld and over 60 in my SD card. I installed the game on the card, btw, if this makes any difference. Plus, I launched it many times directly after a soft-reset to make sure low heap memory was not the cause.

Now even after I got a replacement of my E2 (the other one died... long story), on installing v1.11, the same problem is there!

Any ideas as to why this is happening to me?

Yup, I have the same problem... Brand new E2 and I have tried everything you have tried, but I also cannot get graphics to go high res... Perhaps the programming doesn't recognize this model Palm as being 320x320? Any ideas Astraware??

Hi Haisook,

I've been having a look to try and work out what could be causing this, as the problem doesn't show up on our own E2 (it displays the game in 320x320 exactly as expected).

First of all, could I possibly ask whether the first time you ran the game, it displayed a message saying something like "Best graphics not possible"? Our games include memory checks at startup to ensure that they can run with no problems, and on a hi-res device like the E2 will "Step down" to a lower resolution if there's not enough free memory on the device.

Based on the amount of free memory you have on your device, it *should* be running fine in 320x320...so I'm a bit puzzled as to why this is not happening!

First off, could I possibly ask if you could try download a fresh copy of the game from our site, just in case something has become corrupted during the download process which is affecting this?

If that doesn't help, could I next ask whether you have an application like SharkCache installed on your Palm? SharkCache was originally designed for improving performance on the LifeDrive, but has some small effects on devices like the E2 - but I'm worried that it could also result in an effect like this one.

Warmest regards,
Kieren
