Server Upgrades!

Hi All!

Sorry about the lack of board over the last day!

We recently added a new super-duper server, and after copying our main site over to it and finishing testing, we moved the DNS entries so that the main Astraware site and shop is now hosted on a new machine.

We used to get times when our machine ground to a near halt, especially at the peak time of the day (11pm for us) and when we did special promotions. Of course, the couple of times our machine went down were at the absolute peak traffic - not good....

So, the new server, heroically named \'Ken\' after Ken from \"Fist Of The North Star\", is in place and working quite nicely!

We wanted to make it so that the existing server (now named \"Ryu\") continued to provide some of our other sites and systems - mainly including this bulletin board! There was a bit of a DNS hiccup, and so for a while it was pointing to the wrong place.

Hopefully all sorted now, and that means that you should find the bulletin board nice and speedy! Let us know your comments :)

Just as a follow up to that, the board wasn\'t sending emails out properly; it should be now. :)

I can confirm that the speed of the site is definitely faster (at the moment). :)

However, I have noticed that some of the Avatars seem to have disappeared - namely yours and David\'s at the moment - is that a problem from your end or mine ?? ;)

David and I patched the system to get our avatars from other than the standard location... looks like we moved those by mistake... Will check tomorrow :)

Also the message Icon to the left of Homer isn\'t there - or was that always blank!?

I had coincidentally deleted all my temporary Internet Files, hence I can see what isn\'t there ;)

The icon next to Homer was always blank (not sure why!) :)

I\'ve fixed Howard and my avatars. Still got to fix the navigation bar down the side of the board - I\'ll get to that over the next week.
