View Full Version : Zen Levels

Ok, I've been "zenning" for a while and I've noticed a bug -- and have a question.

I've completed all the "levels" and received all of the charms in the upper right-hand corner... I've done this several times: first each charm was different, then they were all gold, then they changed to multi-colored...

First, the question: is there something AFTER that? Each time I had gone through each of the charms, I expected some feature to be unlocked or something... Not that it HAS to, of course, just that it would be nice to know if there's really any point to keep playing Zen (other than just a "mindless" way to pass time).

Now the bug (which actually caused the question): now that I've completed all the charms and made them multi-colored, when I'm about to go to the next "level", the screen flashes but nothing happens -- no change in the charms, nothing... EXCEPT, now it acts as though the bars on the left and the eyes at the bottom aren't there (but they still display)... The lines behind the bottle disappear first, then more of the lines ABOVE the bottle (as the eyes fill the bottle), then if I fill the bottle (to get a set of eyes), all the eyes at the bottom disappear and the lines at the left go away... I can speed this process up, of course, by simply exiting to the main screen and then going back into Zen...

SO, the program "knows" there are no more lines, nor any sets of eyes, but it doesn't properly re-draw the screen to show it...

It ALSO doesn't "do" anything in regards to the charms at that point, either... So I don't know if that's a "bug" or if that's by design or what... (Hence my question.) After nothing happened ("unlocked") after filling the set of charms the first time, I didn't really expect anything to happen either of the next two times other than changing the color or the charms, but now not even THAT'S happening... :/

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

It's just a mindless way to pass time :)

I'll leave this one for the developers, but I know it's happened to others, so hopefully that will be fixed for the next release..

OK, I can handle that... Anything happen AFTER the multi-colored charms? I kinda liked at least seeing "progress", even if it doesn't get me anywhere.

This is at _least_ the second time I've seen you (or someone else) mention "others" seeing the same thing... First the Phantom Chuzzles and now this bug... There's only around 9 threads in this forum and I've looked through them all and I'm the only one (or rather seemingly the first) to mention these things and yet they're somehow NOT "new"?!? Where are you seeing all these "other" people's posts? And if it's not posts you're seeing, how do you "know" these things?

Hi Theseus,

SylentBob is one of our beta testers, and worked with us on testing Chuzzle for both Palm and Pocket PC.

The bugs mentioned are some which we've been working on solving for a little while now (and we're working on an update with these fixes at the moment), so he was referring to something he'd seen during that testing :)

Warmest regards,
Kieren

Thanks Kieren... I was beginning to think I was losing it! (I still may be, but not from this!) ;) Still, it's a little unnerving to post what appears to be a "first" report on a bug and have someone come back and say "Oh yeah, we've known about that one for a while now...". Giving you guys the benefit of the doubt, I figured there was some OTHER place where this was being discussed and I just didn't know about it.

The other part that was disconcerting was that I was seemingly the first to post about it... Not that I don't notice things quickly, nor that I ignore them, but I know I'm not the "first" to purchase and play your games. Most of the time I buy them, get what I think is a high score and come here only to find that somebody had a score ten times higher within two hours of release! ;) (Ok, maybe a LITTLE exaggerated, but you get my point.) I'm usually "safe" in only confirming that a bug exists, rather than being the one to point them out.

This Chuzzle forum has been rather "dead" comparatively, which only made me more puzzled how these bugs actually GOT to be "known" if no one but me has posted they existed!

From your post, I'm guessing there's a listserve out there for beta testers? (Or is it a "hidden" part of the forums, or just someplace separate from this?)

Also, is the fact that nothing happens after all the charms are multi-colored a BUG or is that EXPECTED? (In other words, do the charms continue to change colors or am I at the end of all changes in regards to the charms?)

Thanks again! :)

I checked the original PC version of the game, and the Astraware version is indeed slightly different. When you get all the rainbow charms they should all turn gold instead of not doing anything. Basically, you don't get anything at the end of Zen mode, which confuses people because doing the same for Bejeweled 2 unlocked a secret mode. You have to find the secret mode for Chuzzle another way! ;-)

The next version of Chuzzle should behave in the same way as the PC version.

Well, what happened was first, each charm came up in its own color... THEN they all turned gold, and now they all turned multi-colored, but aren't doing anything else.

But to just sit there at all of them being multi-colored is a bit of a let-down (if that makes any sense). (If it alternates between gold and multi-colored, I don't care... Or maybe -- as I originally thought -- it goes once through as each color... Meaning the first time each charm is its own color, and when they first changed to Gold, I expected them to all turn to each color respectively... So one time around each charm would turn Green, then the next time -- after all 6 charms were Green -- they would each turn Red, then Purple after that, etc.. My stream-of-consciousness idea: First each their own color, then all of each color (all red, then all green, etc.), then all multi-colored, then all Gold, then back to each their own color to start the cycle again...) ;) There really isn't supposed to be an "end" to Zen, is there?

As for finding BeChuzzled, I've done it (thanks to some helpful people on this forum). :) Unless there's ANOTHER special mode of Chuzzle I've yet to unlock?!?

Zen mode is also a good place to work up for the 100k, 1 million, 1K fat, and 1K super chuzzle trophies. With no time limit and no locks to impede your movement it's a great way to con a child into helping you "earn" those trophies ;)

Would be nice to have an automatic Zen playing machine. The only trophies left for me are 100K, million, 1k fat chuzzles, and 1k super chuzzles. Well there's also the "grand" trophy, but seeing as how long it's taking me to get 100k (still not there yet), it's gonna be a LOONG time to pop 900,000 chuzzles!

You can even play in Zen mode while driving!! But the key is you can navigate by sound and only by sound alone. When you here chuzzles jiggling, that's your cue to let go. Else, it's not a good idea at all if it'll mean getting into a collision. Ya need both hands outside of rush hour traffic :(
