I'm stuck on the WashingtonPost.com diabolical puzzle of Jan. 13, 2006: http://www.uclick.com/client/wpc/wpdoc/2006/01/13/ index.html

The grid I've got so far is:
701020300
040500700
060700800
100060004
206040105
804090607
607453010
410972560
009080470

The online solution solvers say that there is no logical solution to the puzzle. I was able to solve it by guessing at an answer for G2.

Can this be solved logically? Or just by guessing?!

Sorry but I left off a row. The furthest I can take this without guessing is:

7 . 1|. 2 .|3 . .
. 4 .|5 . .|7 . .
. 6 .|7 . .|8 . .
-----+-----+-----
1 . .|. 6 .|. . 4
2 . 6|. 4 .|1 . 5
8 . 4|. 9 .|6 . 7
-----+-----+-----
6 . 7|4 5 3|. 1 .
4 1 .|9 7 2|5 6 .
. . 9|. 8 .|4 7 .

Any ideas?

Newspapers often include puzzles where the steps cannot be made logically. Trial and error (using "Ariadne's Thread" perhaps) is the way to solve these.
