Is there any way to not use assistance when making mistakes, yet still be able to see if the puzzle is solvable or not?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

If you don't want assistance, go to Assistance in the menu and check Allow in the mistakes menu, if this is what you mean.

I don't know about the second part.

The 'Check if Solvable" feature is one of the things I miss from playing a competitors Soduku game.

All it would need is a button to click which would tell you if the puzzle you are playing is solvable from the current position.

That way, players that wish could turn off the hints system but still be able to make a quick check to see if the puzzle is solvable or not

Thanks for the info. I agree, the feature that lets you see if the puzzle is solvable or not, does not seem to be on this particular game.

Maybe they'll fix it on an update.

Firstly... all of the built in puzzles and puzzles that are generated are solvable.

If you haven't made any errors, then the puzzle will *always* still be solvable.

If you have error checking/flagging turned off, however, and you want to know if it is still solvable (doesn't lead to an inconsistency), then that's possible!

Just enter a "." (tap twice on the graffiti area, or tap "." on the thumboard), and the app will calculate not only if it is still solvable, but will also give you an idea of the remaining difficulty, and what techniques it used to get there.

Try it for yourself - start a game, and enter a couple of "mistake" values, it should think for a while, then put up a box saying "I can't complete this puzzle!", and tell you some of the techniques it used to reach that conclusion.

You can also use this feature at any time after starting the puzzle, and it will give you an idea of what techniques are needed. They each have 3-letter codes, which I listed in another thread (I'll link to it here if you can't find it.)

So, there you go - a feature you didn't know the game had!

Howard.

Howard,

Could you please send me the link to the information you listed in another thread about 3-letter codes to find out what techniques are needed?

Thanks,

elbar

Howard,

Thanks for responding so quickly. I hate to sound stupid but I don't know what you mean by the codes and explanations. Is there an explanation anywhere?

Thanks,
Elaine

Could these 3-letter codes (aka current tests) be listed within a help menu somewhere please?

We might try to include it in a future release - but it won't be for a while yet. Still thinking of options for the best way to accomplish this!
