Re-post from customer service forum...not sure which is the proper location!!!
I just switched PDA's from a Tungsten E to a Tungsten T2. I did the hard reset transfer of data and programs...everything works foine, except SAIS. I now get an error message about not enought heap memory to run the program, with an error code of 990909. What's up? I do an "up button" warm reset to bypass the extensions and I get the same error. I'm running Zlauncher as my launcher program, but no other extensions that I know of (does Docs to Go or Beyond Contacts put in extensions? How can I see what extensions load?). No hacks or hackmaster.
Help!!! I'm hooked on this game, and I really need it back!!!
Thanks!!!

Hi Jim (and anyone else who drops by to check this post out),
We've just released version 1.01 of SAIS, with a heap (hoho) of improvements to the memory management - this should make it much easier to run the game on the Tungsten T and T2, as the memory requirements are much lower than before :)
Warmest regards,
Kieren

AWESOME! With better memory requirements, is there any chance we'll see more features added to the game itself that had to be left out because of memory limitations? (Functioning Artifacts, for example... hint-hint! ;) )

I couldn't say at the moment, because it would also need a fair whack of developer time to slot these in too (not to mention the testing!). :)

If you ask me, some tweaking to the code is in order. After a few months playing this game, I honestly feel that the absence of the artifacts' special abilities unfairly unbalances the game, especially on its hardest setting.
This is because the bulk of the ship upgrades, such as advanced weapons, shields and drives are found in exactly the same way as the treasures. It's nearly impossible, as a result, to gain these necessary upgrades to actually survive for an entire game AND achieve a score of something more than six or seven thousand. These upgrades are nearly requisite for success because all but two of the artifacts do not have the same special abilities that they do on the original version.
For example, I frequently face an entire fleet of Tan Ru armed with an explosive shell chain gun, a medium range missile launcher or laser, gluon shields, and chemical thrusters. I'll have a hold full of items like the torc of Babulon or the Aethritic mirror or the Thrint Whistle or a few other grand sounding artifacts. In the pc game, these might be enough to turn the tide (or maybe not these specific artifacts - I'll confess I have no idea what they do) with their special abilities. In the palm version, though, I don't have that option, and I'm not fast enough to keep the Tan Ru out of their weapon range, not hardy enough to let my shields absorb the damage, and not powerful enough to outgun them. What's left, then? Abort the game and hope the Klakar have all the good stuff the next time around.
Most of the time, if the Klakar don't have at least Temporal Flux shields, a decent weapon, a nebular drive and reactionless thrusters, I'm finding that I'm much less frustrated if I just abort the game right then.
If there's no room for the artifacts' abilities, then at least improve the effectiveness of the ship's systems and equipment.

In the same circumstances as the ones you describe, I usually pull out of the fight, skip on and take the extra time spent on the chin. This means that I run away from a lot more fights, but greatly increases my chances of surviving to the end with a score :)
However, it's a fair point, the harder difficulty settings are VERY hard, and while we don't want to make them as easy as the lowest settings, tweaking it downwards a little might be nice.
