Not only are they extremely bad traders, but you can get them to fight for you without paying for it.
How to Reproduce:
Call them into battle at the beginning of a round. Destroy as many ships as you can, but make sure you leave at least one. Retreat.
Result:
The Klakar demand no payment for services, and you can go into battle again without them and easily take out the remaining ship.

Sounds like a bug.
The exalted Klakar have been trading in deep space for a long time. So long, in fact, that trading has become a kind of quasi-religious ritual. The value of an item, or the idea of making a profit, is irrelevant to them. However, the ritual of contact and exchange is, apparently, profoundly important.
Secondarily, the Klakar believe that their way of trading assures that no race would have an advantage over another. So, they make all technologies available to all races for the same low low price.
Interplanetary experts are still in disagreement whether or not this philosophy is sound.

The Klakars, which I find to be my stongest ally in the game destroyed 2 Garthan Corvettes and sabatoged a Light Carrier for me.Then,I simply sent out a fighter to finish the job.And I gave the Klakars a Clingon,(food)and they took it.Secont of all,You have obviously never played the game before and are just braggy about how you cheat your allies. Why,If I were on your team,I would have deserted you and thrown you to the mercy of the Garthans.Treat your allies the way you would have them treat you.
