Hi
I just installed the music on my new T3 and really don't like it. I prefer the "clicks". Now, I can't seem to remove the music and go back to my old sounds. Help!

Hi Bluremy,

This ones a complex problem actually, because the trick necessary to keep all the music files associated with the game (so that it can be run from card) also means that you cannot distinguish them when looking at the delete menu :(

The easiest method to remove them is to simply delete Bejeweled and re-install it, however, if you are running Bejeweled from main memory normally, doing so will also prompt the Palm to delete your high scores and registration information :( If you normally run Bejeweled from card however, this will work just fine for you with no problems.

Alternatively, if you have a file management program such as "McFile" or "Filez", you can look for the three "bejeweled-music.PDB" files, and delete them manually, which is possibly the best solution if you are running the game from main memory.

Finally, if you aren't worried about the space, you can simply mute the music, by selecting "Options" and then "Sound Settings" from the menus (to open the menus on your Palm, simply tap the 3rd from the left icon on your T3's status bar, the one which is directly right of the clock display)

Hopefully that helps, but if you still have any questions let me know!

Warmest regards,

"The easiest method to remove them is to simply delete Bejeweled and re-install it,"

I tried that, but it reinstalled with the music, even though I didn't install the music the second time.
Can I delete the music file using ZLauncher? I don't see the file, but perhaps you can tell me what to look for?
Thanks, Dawn

Hi Dawn,

I'm not tremendously familiar with ZLauncher myself, but if you are able to "persuade" it to show all the files on your Palm, look for the following three PDB files:
Bejeweled-music1.pdb
Bejeweled-music2.pdb
Bejeweled-music3.pdb

These three files only supply the music to the game, so removing them should silence it (they aren't used for anything else).

However, it's a bit odd that despite deleting and reinstalling the game you still had the music! There are a few ways this *could* happen, and the most common one I can think of would be if the music files were in the main memory of the Palm, but the game itself was on the card.

If that doesn't help, could you please let me know which version of ZLauncher you have, and I'll try and work out another way of deleting the files :)

Warmest regards,
Kieren

If you just go into your ZLauncher File Manager (by default it sorts alphabetically) then just search for those filenames Kieren left and you can remove just them.

AS I couldn't find the above mentioned filenames using ZLauncher, I deleted the program completely (2 files, causing a reset) and installed an older version (2.0). This worked nicely and now I have my "clicks" back. Thanks to both of you for your timely help!

Hi Bluremy,

OK, although due to the version differences between version 2.0 and 2.23, you won't be able to export any high scores to our online table. If you want to work on this further at any point, so that you can use the latest version without any music files, feel free to email me directly (kieren@astraware.com (mailto:kieren@astraware.com)), and we can look into it more deeply!

Warmest regards,
Kieren
