hello, i just downloaded a trial version of bejeweled on the HP IPAQ1940, however even when i turn off all the music and set the game to "classical" mode so that the gems look blocky, the speed of the game does not improve, can anyone give me some help on this? it uses a 266 samsung processor, whereas a clie i have seen my friend run it on uses a 66 processor and runs perfectly fine, please give help =)

Hi Red_marine,
Could I possibly ask which aspects of the game seem particularly slow, and which version of Bejeweled you have?
There are slightly fewer tweak settings available on the Pocket PC than on the Palm, but this is primarily becuase even the low end Pocket PCs should have the horsepower to handle all the various nice effects that a low power Palm might need to turn off for speed.
Turning the music off should produce a small difference, but it is very small, as we worked very hard to make sure that the music could play with as little impact on the game speed as possible :)
The largest factor on any Pocket PCs processing power will be what is running in the background - the Palm doesn't need to concern itself with this, as a program is pretty much running or not, but the Pocket PC will generally keep things going in the background unless it runs *very* low on resources! You can double check what's running by tapping on the Start menu and selecting "Settings", then tapping on the "System" tab at the bottom, selecting the "Memory" application. There will be 3 more tabs in this program, and the one you are interested in this time is "Running Programs". If you have a lot listed here, it may be wise to stop most, if not all of them, and you should see a more noticeable speed improvement.
If that doesn't help, let me know and we can look at other possible causes!
Warmest regards,
Kieren

hrm, i already tried that, closing programs running in the background etc, but i've fixed it up now ^.^
turns out because i was isntalling so many things that it caused alot of junk files to be in the memory, and then i didn't know what a "reset" button was, thought it was just the thing on the top but obviously not. HP didn't supply any comprehensive manuals to use with this thing ^.^
so i got introduced to the reset button and wow, it's running faster than anything i've seeen, lol
thanks for the help though ^.^

Hi Red_marine,
Good to know that you found the solution to the problem, and I've filed it away as something to to remember if others encounter the same problem.
Pocket PCs, like their bigger desktop counterparts, do tend to thrive best with an occasional rebooting ;)
Have fun!
