I have had bejeweled on my ipaq 4155 for a few weeks without issue. Recently when I go into memory settings there is one remaining item that wont close down, its Bejeweled. I cannot get it to completely shut down.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there Zagith,

Hmm...that's rather strange indeed! Can I ask if you are able to open up Bejeweled from the shortcut at all? If so, could I ask what screen is showing when it returns?

Normally, if such a thing happens, the Pocket PC will keep trying for a minute or so, and then stop and ask if you wish to stop the program anyway, but normally if you ask Bejeweled to close from there it will do so quickly!

If you can open Bejeweled up normally from the shortcut, there is a hidden combination which you can use to close most Pocket PC applications without an "exit" menu command. If you open the Keyboard from the bottom right corner, and then tap "Ctrl" and "Q", the program should immediately stop running.

I hope that helps, but if not, let me know!

When I select the bejeweled shortcut it brings up the main menu (choice of easy or timed modes).

I tried the CTRL-Q but nothing. It definitely closed down the current, open session, but again when I go into memory setting and the display shows Bejeweled still running. When I tell it to close all, I get the End Task popup. But selecing to end task doesnt work. Thanks!

Hi Zagith,

That's very worrying, since one of those two should have worked! Could I possibly ask what the last thing you did with Bejeweled was, or which screen was showing the last time you used it?

The quick and simple solution to this problem would be to soft reset your iPaq, which will immediately stop everything - but you will want to make sure everything you want to keep is saved first (which it should be if everything else is closed).

Pocket PCs do tend to need the odd soft reset to clear up the "weird" problems, just like a normal PC. Bejeweled should be back to normal again after the soft reset, but let me know if not!

Warmest regards,
Kieren

I was playing a normal timed game, the game itself was working perfectly. Just trying to close it completely is the issue.

I will try a soft reset. Will post my results. Thanks.

Soft Reset definitely took care of the problem. I will watch for the issue to see whether or not is occurs again.

Thanks again for your help and suggestions.

Hi Zagith,

Good to hear, although the fact it locked is worrying. If you could let me know if it or anything else odd occurs again then we'll look into it more deeply!

Have fun!
Kieren
