Ok, I just came up with what I think is an Excellent idea! I think that you should start putting up polls and surveys on your website. Everyone likes polls, and it helps attract more people to your website, I think. Almost all of the big gaming companies have polls/surveys all the time. One, ie, would be EA. They have about a poll/survey every two-four weeks. I think that it not only helps attract more people to the company, but it makes people more interested in the company too, especially if they have good products (like you, and EA, :))

Plus, if you were to to it every two weeks (or what ever time frame taht you would like), you would not have to worry about any type of questions to come up with, becuase their are millions, and they could all help benefit your companies income and popularity rate. You are probably going to be asking \"what makes you think that?\" Well, I have many examples and explanations to prove why you should do it and how it would benefit you.

For one, you could put up a poll (say, for your first poll/survey, if you were to do it) that asks \"what kind of games do you like?\" Then you would have a answers with little bubbles/boxes where you can plave one check (this applies with all of the polls/surveys (that you should do)). This question would help you to determine waht kind of games to make, such as \"action\" or \"adventure\" (both of those really need in the PDA markect right now, I think, ;)).

Then you could have another question, like \"What kind of device do you have? When do you plan on updating? What type of device do you plan to purchase?\" etc, etc. This would help you to determine the most popular used devices and what to focus on making for them the most.

You could also ask other questions like \"what do you think of our company (have the choices be \"horrible, bad, nutreul, ok, goo\") and have a little comment box asking why. This way you could get outsider views of from the public to help improve your company and website.

You could also ask more question such as \"what games have you bought from us in the past? What games do you plan on buying in the future? Do you buy from other companies too? What games did you buy from them and why?\" These questions help to determine what games are the most popular (you may already have a way of telling that now, by what is purchased) and what games the people like that you have.

There are many more questions that you could ask too, there most likley is no limit to these polls/surveys. Not only would this help bring in more revenues for teh company, but more and more people will spread the word, and make your company more popular. Plus, people like these types of things. In fact, I think that is where some of the big game companies get their success from. You could staryt out by asking questions and things, then when you start making more and more money, you can start having contests and things for the public (everyone likes free things, ;)...:))

Anyways, that was jsut a suggestion that I had that I think would help benefit your company. If you are questioning where to put these polls/surveys, just have them next to the \"preview section\" or have them off toe the side. Or even better, you can have them as a pop-up, like EA does a lot too. You may think it is too time consuming, but I think that you should at least try it for a month or two, and have a poll/survey a week, I bet you would get good responses.

So please tell me what you think and tell me if you decide to do it or not. Either way, I will not be mad, it was just a suggestion (which I think that you should at least try, ;)).

Looong post there DB!

Polls are an interesting one.

We already know who has purchased what, and we know what games sell well :)

When you put a poll in an internet site, just who are you asking ?

Imagine if I wanted to know whether a superhero comic or a funny cartoon comic would sell better. If I put that poll in the wrong place - i.e. a financial newspaper, it wouldn\'t necessarily get me useful information for my target audience.

That\'s the problem - my target audience goes beyond those people who might normally do internet polls. Therefore, the data I would get would be skewed.

Getting customer feedback is already something we do - we get in the order of 200 email messages a day for feedback and support, and we learn a great deal from that.

The one on devices would be interesting. It might also be nice to profile Astraware.com visitors (as distinct from purchasers of our software - not always the same groups!).

Thanks for the suggestion and the thought behind your post DB. I know we won\'t get chance for anything like this in the next couple of months, but maybe later in the year its a possibility!

Howard.

I guess one other thing to consider is how much time will this eat up? Is the potential result worth the time taken away from game development? ;)
