It seems that the following common words are missing from the BookWorm PalmOS game:
pyro
torment (painful to be denied a 7-letter word!!)
july
aint (although this is more colloquial)
Cal.

There are no month names; probably not any proper nouns at all. No \"Danes\" \"Swedes\" etc.
Torment - we need that; we earn it! :)

Would it be possible to have all the games that use words in a dictionary database access the same common dictionary. This way words in \"What Word\", \"Text Twist\", \"Bookworm\", etc.. would all have the same words, and then maybe have the possibility of download new/updated Data Dictionaries that would of course update all of the games words that access them.
Maybe have the installer look to see if there is a dictionary and if it\'s not there, it creates one. Maybe give it the option of installing the data dictionary somewhere different (user selected) as well as the option of default directory and then allow the installer when you install another game, be able to point it to the dictionary if it is not in the default location. (for storage card purposes)
I have been thinking about this one over the holidays and this thread just made me think about it again.

Hey, I like choiberg\'s idea. I would also like to add that maybe (mentioned before, by me) there should be a timed mode where you have to make a certain amount of words. :)

I like the idea of a common dictionary for all the word games. I know it was discussed before and I think it was decided that would not happen. Something about added support headaches or something like that I think.

I would have thought that a common dictionary would really help reduce the maintenance of development tasks between projects, but I can see two potential problems with this idea:
1) A common dictionary would probably make it difficult to allow various keying or hash-table algorithms to be used across the different games. Different games will likely use different lookup methodologies, and one generic arrangement might not be appropriate for all games.
2) It could potentially be easier for someone to cheat and create their own dictionaries. But, I don\'t think anyone would go to the trouble! This is more of an issue if one provides internet high-score tables for any of these common word games.
Having it external (perhaps using VFS) would alleviate some of the size concerns, though. However, it appears that [de]compression is already being used, so perhaps this is not much of a benefit.

It was just an idea, and if someone was having so much trouble with a game that they needed to cheat, what\'s the point of playing.... was just an idea....
